Honey Bee

Honey bee hive removal

Removing a bee hive may require cutting holes in roofing, drywall, or floors. I am only able to do some minor   repairs, a contractor maybe needed to repair opened cavities. Weather plays a major role in removing honey bees,   especially if a roof needs to be opened. Depending on the size of the hive it can take a minimum of two days to   remove bees and honey comb so the weather must be good to do so. Honey bees are relocated alive and the   comb is completely removed from the structure. Some honey bees are often left behind as they are scattered   everywhere but there will not be enough to restart the colony. Once the comb is removed a visit the following   morning when remaining bees are clustered they will be completely removed except for usually a couple which will   die off in time, time unknown. One of the most important reasons for removing the honey comb is once the bees   are gone and the hive is vacant honey comb can melt and begin to mold. Honey can leak and can cause damage,   plus insects and rodents will begin to feed on the honey and wax. Bee hives can be removed inside a house or on the exterior with safety. Neighbors should be notified is removing on the exterior of home and pets should not be walked in the general area.

Swarm Relocation

I will do honey bee swarm relocation for a flat rate were as other will do it for free if you contact a bee keeper in your area. Most bee swarms will only in a location for a short period of time and then move on but not always. A swarm is a colony of honey bees that has over grown is home or was damaged in some way so they have to find another home that is suitable. We do not have open bee hives due to our cooler temperature up north but temporary honey comb can be built sometimes. Honey bees collected from a swarm are relocated to a safe location to be raised.
