Saving Honey Bees

Removing honeys bees with the intent on wanting them saved in a controlled environment will be best done if the hives are removed before July. It takes time for a colony to establish it self in a new hive and store reserves for winter. All new hives are treated for parasites and fed as much as they will take. It takes 23 days for young to become adults and the more new adults there are for the winter the better the chance of survival. Old bees are quick to die when the cold sets in, and the hive needs big numbers to generate heat.

Important to know: When a hive is removed from a structure or tree their will always be a few bees left behind after the removal. Stragglers will often cluster up in a area to keep warm over night and will die off in time. Its unknown how long it will take for the remainder to die off but they will in time. A second trip maybe added into the price to collect remainder of bees. Depending on the job a bee hive can be left to attract and house left over bees until being picked up by myself. A typical Cut out can last as many as three days depending on the size of the hive. If the cutout is inside the home please make arrangements for someone to be present.

Queen Bees

If you have questions regarding queen bees you can go to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_bee . I do not waste  a lot of time trying to find queens on the job, I recognize patterns that bees have to indicate where she might be. The queen is normally taken with the group during removal of the hive. Honey bees will normally continue to go back to the area regardless if the queen is their or not its just in their DNA. Scent of the hive, the smell of the queen and the natural instinct to cluster all play a part in why bees hand around where a hive once been.

About Removal

Removing a Honey Bee hive requires cutting holes in drywall or taking down siding or soffit sometimes. Bees will find voids and cavities within a structure to build a hive in often times not that easily accessed. A bee hive can grow to fit any size cavity if its left alone to grow. A hive can start off slow in the spring but as the number of bees grow so will the hive grow. Removing a hive is commonly called a cutout because the hive is cutout of where it is located.

Repair Work After The Bee Hive Is Removed.

I do not offer repair work for bee removal work, A contractor will have to be called to make repairs. Trapper Nicks Wildlife Control will not perform repairs nor be held  responsible  for  any  repair  work  required  resulting  from  the  honey bee colony removal effort or from accidental damage. All repairs are the customers responsibility and should be done as soon as the remainder of the bees have cleared away witch may take a couple of days.

The Prime months for bee removals are when the temperature is a steady 53 even at night to around June. Hives can be taken out after June but wax production and comb building will slow down. October is the last month comb will be made in the beehive and without honey comb there is ability to store food or pollen.
